About this deal

As another reviewer mentioned, this is not a textbook, so it doesn't start you from the beginning and gradually work you up. Most Kanji are often translated where you can pronounce and understand, if you have knowledge of basic japanese Kanji. Each sentence pattern is accompanied by a straightforward explanation and several Japanese examples with kanji, kana, and romaji. We don’t share your credit card details with third-party sellers and we don’t sell your information to others. If you are a beginner, in my opinion, this book would be one of the best purchases you can make to help with your Japanese studies.

I might go back through and add some sentences from the book to my SRS, and I plan to read the Intermediate and Advanced books as well. One of the most helpful Japanese grammar books out there, Basic Japanese Grammarteaches colloquial, everyday Japanese grammar and leaves out unnecessary or little-used forms.Apart from that I’d like to ask you have you read or heard of the book “Japanese the Manga Way” its one of many popular Japanese teaching books related to grammar and I would like to know your thoughts on it. What makes this book unique is that it also covers some rare Japanese verbs, adjectival nouns, clauses, adverbs, and more. The basic sentence structure in English is SVO (subject-verb-object) but in Japanese, it’s SOV (subject-object-verb).

Of course, each of these sections have the same level of explanation, example sentences, and notes just like the first one. Pretty much everything you'd ever want to know about a grammar point is included, the images above don't really do this dictionary justice. Anytime I would run into a new piece of grammar that I hadn’t seen before, I would go to the book and look it up.

This is your stop for finding the best language learning resources—apps, books, podcasts, videos, online courses and virtual tutors. Like the two previous books in the series, this one presents grammar points in easy-to-reference dictionary format. This is the only book I've found that does not require you to know the English grammatical term for what you want to look up.

There are three of these books, and while I love all three of them, most people won't need to go beyond the first one (Basic). You get the word and its explanation first, then there is a key sentence that has each part broken down piece by piece so that you can see how it works. Nit-pick, but I don't love the assumption that learners of the Japanese language are male (instead of using the neutral "they" pronoun). What’s more, this book includes a lot of practice sections to allow the reader to test his or her understanding of the lesson. It’s easy to understand why you’d need a separate book just to study this tricky unit of Japanese grammar. Completely covering and adding to the roster that most conventional Japanese language books, and software DO NOT cover.
