About this deal

There is no need to remove the Canny Collar when you let your dog off leash. Simply use the carabiner clips included with each collar to fasten the slip line webbing under your dog’s chin by first crossing the ends behind her head as per the fitting and using instructions. The Canny Collar doesn’t have to be removed when your dog is off lead and can be safely left on while your dog runs free. Put the Canny Collar on and go for a walk immediately. Keep your leash short but loose when walking and aim to have your dog in the 'heel' position. Using a shorter training lead will make this easier, around 4 ft length is ideal. Give him plenty of vocal praise when he begins walking well. Risk of loss and damage of products passes to you on the date when the products are delivered or on the date of first attempted delivery by us.

If your dog is unsociable or aggressive to other dogs or people, look for a qualified dog trainer or behavioural therapist.

Estimated transit time. Transit times may exceed the estimated time due to postal or carrier service interruptions or other circumstances beyond the control of CannyCo America. The Canny Collar is the best collar to help train dogs not to pull on the lead, transforming even the worst pullers into happy, well-behaved pets. Once your dog accepts wearing the head collar, let her wear it around the house for short periods with the leash attached. On most brands, the leash attaches underneath the chin. Others use a behind-the-head fastening. Your dog feels a clear difference between ‘on’ and ‘off’ with this design as there is no continuous downward pressure from the weight of the leash or clip.

Once your dog is walking, instantly lower the lead to release the pressure on the Canny Collar (you should also let him have some more lead here) and give him plenty of vocal praise whilst keeping walking. He needs to know that at some point in the walk, the pressure will be released; otherwise he may just continue to pull against it. The most obvious benefit is that a head collar can help to train your dog to walk on a loose lead without pulling. Like any tool, it makes a job easier. Putting your dog on a lead is like driving a car – you don’t just switch off. Your responsibilities are to be aware of what is happening in the moment and to know what is going on around you. The most important consideration when choosing a head collar is that it should be comfortable for your dog. It should be safe for you both and effective in helping you learn together.A head collar should fit snugly so that it cannot come off and potentially put your dog in danger. If you are attaching your regular lead to the headcollar only, this is doubly important.

When choosing a collar to stop your dog pulling on lead, every brand will claim to be ‘the best’. But there is no 'one fits all' solution. Once you have your collar fitted, it's advisable to test first in your garden or house to ensure it cannot come off over her head.Your choice will depend on your dog’s size, breed & temperament plus how much training you wish to do. Do you want to use your head collar permanently? Or would you like to eventually train your dog to walk on a regular collar and leash?

The nose band on the Canny Collar is designed to be free-moving rather than in a fixed position, so that when your dog is walking well, he doesn't feel any pressure at all on his face. This is in fact how the collar works, using a pressure and release system - pressure when pulling, no pressure when not pulling - this is your dog’s ‘reward’ for walking well and he should only feel pressure if he pulls.

A head collar is an effective training aid which can speed up the time it takes to train your dog to walk to heel" Put the Canny Collar on and go for a walk immediately. Keep your lead short but loose when walking and aim to have your dog in the 'heel' position. Using a shorter lead will make this easier, around 120cm length is ideal. Give him plenty of vocal praise when he begins walking well. Can be used in both ‘training collar mode’ and ‘regular collar mode’ by easily dropping the slip line (nose band) off your dog's nose as needed. This way, you can train your dog to eventually walk on a regular collar and leash.
