About this deal

The glow plug light is used for many problems, the fault codes need to be read, and with a VW diagnostic tool. The thing is so much trouble if my wife uses it on lots of short journeys that I'm tempted to do one of the re-maps that are being offered online to take the EGR valve out of the ECU completely - they claim 15% more power and better economy. It can also datalog sensor outputs and recode the various modules (central convenience unit etc) on the car.

When you removed the unit for cleaning Wellse- was that the easily accessible Throttle Body ControlUnit on the front of the engine, nearest the radiator?Given that the fuel filter housing is cracked, and this looks like a fuel starvation issue, I'd say that is the most likely culprit. I have no choice, but to take a day off work and get it back to the non-franchised dealer (right awkward n0bs). well looking at the above, The car is showing none of the other issues, There is no black smoke at all, once reset the car is acting as normal, no hissing or pops, and the car is not lumpy or failing to start? I changed my fuel filter last month, car was built May 2012, Date on the fuel filter was 4/4/2012, so it had never been changed, it should ahve been chnaged several times at services. It is my impression that EGR faultsnecessitating fullreplacement of the unit (not an easy job, see the EGR threads)are increasingly common among EA189 engines of a certain age and maturity.

My oil temp got up to 106c then dropped off to 101c but no idea if that is normal as I don’t usually lock the gearbox in 5th. Still going to SWICT today and see what it is and still driving with alot of caution as i havent got a clue what it is but i hope its something fairly straight forward! You're loss of power is "restricted performance" and quite correctly resets when the engine is restarted, that is until it detects the fault again.

Azz, instead of clearing it with the computer, they should have ensured the filter was bled properly first and then just switched the ignition on and off 3 times to let it clear itself. Im using the app so cant see ur model, my had 73k on clock, u could just change the faulty one but in my opinion the rest could be on thier last legs too? Subject to what the dealer says, and I know it's marginal re the rules, but I would take it for a 15 - 20 mile dual carriageway run keeping the revs up i. I had glow plug lights up and limp mode several times due to post dpf sensor going intermittent open circuit.

You should just be able to do it with a voltmeter (available cheaply if you haven't got one and useful for all sorts of stuff) hooked up as shown in the diagram. Correct functionality of the DPF relies heavily on post injection of fuel and the precat to use that post injected fuel to generate the heat. If they all went in at the same time, chances are if one is dodgy, the rest might not be far behind. For the record, the glow plugs were replaced about 1,000 miles ago, and the problem has not changed a jot. In my bongo the fuses for internal lights, mirrors etc are connected to the leisure battery and for some reason when the low voltage cutout operates because the battery is discharged, when the engine is started the glowplug light flashes until the battery begins to charge and switches cutout back on and then the light stops flashing and turns off.

To the extent I'm nearly surprised it didn't get lit when the "test cheat" software or "defeat device" had kicked in to indicate the ECU had detected the car was on test [Joke! TDI 140 ps on an 09 plate, traded my TT in 2 months ago for it as the TT was getting older and didn't want any problem, so, thought VW diesal, carnt go far wrong?

Pulled off again, turned engine off, all seemed fine, left it in DSG most of way back and took it steady.Don't trust a dealer to say they've done it, but the part and have a go yourself so you know it's done. Just been out for 29 mile drive on a reasonably fast A road (no d/cways anywhere near here) mostly with the gearbox held in 5th and at 2,500rpm, hopefully flushed out the DPF and fan wasn’t on when I stopped, with either engine on or shut down. Could it be a glitch or a sign of failure due and is it worth me doing anything at this stage if the lights is back to normal? Today after work I started the car and after a couple of minutes driving noticed the glow plug light was on. Obviously I can`t be sure because I wasn`t there but asking some discrete questions after the Oldham meet and Bretts problems I felt sure that he had changed it.
