About this deal

Where children pronounce the phonemes incorrectly or use letter names, they will not be able to successfully blend to read words. Membership also includes Ongoing CPD supported by a practice map which identifies exactly what your teachers need to practise to improve the teaching of phonics and reading. Our Little Wandle SEND Programme has been developed to be used with the graduated approach to teach children to learn to read in small steps that provide the right amount of challenge. Although your child will be taught to read at school, you can have a huge impact on their reading journey by continuing their practice at home. At WGPS we believe reading is essential for academic success but, more importantly, we value reading as a key life skill, and are dedicated to enabling our pupils to become lifelong readers.

We recommend that international schools contact our membership team in the first instance to discuss your requirements. Each decodable book has been carefully crafted to help children to build on their secure phonic knowledge, moving confidently from decoding words to reading fluently and for pleasure. This could be done by using pictures, missing words in sentences, fill in the missing sounds, make words with the sound using letters displayed. Reading Books for Little Wandle Discover an exciting mix of stories and non-fiction that are matched perfectly to the Little Wandle progression and support all the Letters and Sounds phases. By the end of Year 1, children will have been taught all of the phonemes and graphemes in the English language and should be able to decode and read any word. Our Rapid Catch-up programme is for children in Year 2 and above who are not reading at the expected level for their age. Introduction and engagement - The teacher will explain to the children what they will be learning today and get them enthusiastic and motivated for the session.

If one of them is stuck for an idea, the other usually comes up with something or makes a cup of tea. I know they all develop differently etc etc but just keen to have a broad idea if DD is where she should be for her age. Our Phonics Book Bag Readers series includes a wide selection of diverse and inclusive stories, accompanied by bright and contemporary illustrations that will engage and inspire young readers. This could be by showing pictures or objects with the sound in and getting the children to guess or find the sound. Read more about the condition New: A new, unread, unused book in perfect condition with no missing or damaged pages. This is the new schools reading scheme and there's no information available online about rough reading levels/ages. My DS is currently reading at the hardest end of Phase 2 (summer born reception) which probably equates to the easier end of red books using the list someone linked earlier. As you will know from our recent phonics meeting for parents and carers, the school has introduced a new phonics programme this year which we are very excited about and are sure will help your child develop the phonetic knowledge they need to become confident, happy and fluent readers.
