About this deal

Alan Partridge is little short of a cultural phenomenon, having transitioned between radio, television, print and podcasts with an ease that few other fictional creations can match. Leaving his old life behind and relocating to a small coastal village in Kent, Alan battles through adversity, wins the hearts and minds of a suspicious community, and ultimately shows himself to be a quite wonderful man. Another Oasthouse coming next year too, I can listen to Partridge now pretty much all day and never get bored! You can tell when they actually do have a firm opinion on something because they're really not subtle in telling you it, especially by the time of Oasthouse 3, where it doesn't even feel like Alan speaking in-character half the time.

Most purchases from business sellers are protected by the Consumer Contract Regulations 2013 which give you the right to cancel the purchase within 14 days after the day you receive the item. It’s a shame to be leaving the BBC at a time when most of its senior roles are finally being given to supporters and donors of the Conservative party,” he notes. The only issues I had with it were the same as with just about any feature-length sitcom adaptation. Since it’s impossible to read Partridge without hearing his voice in your head, this is a book best enjoyed in audio where, courtesy of Coogan, his pompous pronouncements and warped self-analysis take flight. There's also a lot of repetition (quite literally) as well as a few missed opportunities to really take the character somewhere interesting. There's enough here to keep fans of Brand Partridge on-side, but I suspect that as soon as you finish you'll fire up Nomad or I, Partridge. DAVID BADDIEL'The funniest series of books ever written in the English language' RICHARD OSMAN'With a genuine belly laugh to be found on almost every page, it only cements Partridge's status as the world's greatest comedy character' EMPIRE'Partridge.

Big Beacon was the first time that that sort of joke popped up so frequently (on the subjects of women, diversity, gender identity, etc. Big Beacon is Partridge's third autobiography, following 2011's I, Partridge: We Need to Talk About Alan and 2016's Nomad. One example I can think of is from Oasthouse series 1, where he talks about women more and more moving into roles that have traditionally been men's and "seeming to be getting the hang of them", or something like that. Instead it ambles along on an unsatisfying middle ground, with awkward attempts to subvert big screen clichés, but without seeming exactly sure what those are. So many laugh out loud moments, you know why you are here, reading these aren't going to stop you enjoying Partridge's peerless production.

Authored by Steve Coogan, Rob Gibbons, and Neil Gibbons, this book showcases Partridge’s unwavering self-belief amidst a perpetually faltering existence. Maybe a brand new character or even a different genre would reignite the magic that has made Steve so great in the past.
